Outstanding Book in Educational Technology and Teacher Education

This award is presented to the author(s) of an exceptional book that has contributed to the development of knowledge, skills, or reflections in the fields of Educational Technology and Teacher Education.

Criteria for Eligibility

  1. The manuscript being nominated should make a significant contribution to Educational Technology and Teacher Education in one or more areas such as curriculum development, teaching methodology, research, theory to practice, etc.
  2. The manuscript must be a book or book series published within the last three years preceding the nomination deadline.
  3. The nominee(s) should hold a full-time assignment at an accredited college or university and/or be actively working in the field of Educational Technology and Teacher Development.
  4. The individual(s) must be nominated by a member of the AECT Teacher Education Division. On jointly authored manuscripts, the authors should be nominated as a group. Self-nominations are also welcome.
  5. The individual(s) may receive the award no more than once in a five year period.

Procedures for Nominations and Selection of Award Recipient(s)

  1. The nominee shall mail the following materials to the AECT Teacher Education Division Awards Committee Chairperson (the TED Past-President) by the announced deadline.
    • 3 copies of the manuscript being nominated. (Note: If the publication is available online, please provide the electronic address instead.)
    • A one page rationale that addresses the significance of the publication.
  2. Selection will be made by the AECT Teacher Education Division Awards Committee.
  3. Publications nominated for this award will be judged by the following criteria:
    • Originality of the contribution
    • Quality of the contribution
    • Content and clarity of purpose
    • Organization and presentation
    • Potential impact on Educational Technology and Teacher Education
  4. The recipient(s) of the award will be notified and invited to the Association for Educational Communications and Technology Annual Convention.

Service Award Nominations

This award is presented to an individual within the educational technology and teacher education profession who has established an exceptional record of service to the Teacher Education Division of AECT.

Criteria for Eligibility

  1. The nominee should have made significant contributions to the AECT Teacher Education Division. The individual should have distinguished herself/himself by serving through committee work, serving on various AECT projects, and various other service activities.
  2. Nominees must be an active member of AECT at the time of nomination.
  3. The individual must be nominated by an active AECT member. Self-nominations are also welcome.
  4. The individual may receive the award no more than once in a five year period.

Procedures for Nominations and Selection of Award Recipient

  1. The nominator shall mail the following materials to the AECT Teacher Education Division Awards Committee Chairperson (the TED Past-President) by the announced deadline.
    • On no more than 2 sheets of paper, the nominator should list, in the order of significance, the outstanding contributions and achievements of the nominee which, in his/her estimation, qualify this nominee for the award. Be brief and to the point.
    • Up to 5 letters of support may accompany the nomination.
  2. Selection will be made by the AECT Teacher Education Division Awards Committee.
  3. Individuals nominated for this award will be judged by the following criteria:
    • Quality of contributions
    • Significance of contributions
    • Impact on Educational Technology and Teacher Education
  4. The recipient of the award will be notified and invited to the Association for Educational Communications and Technology Annual Convention.
