What I want
Off and on all day today I've been thinking about what I want for AECT. Ever since convention in Anaheim, I've been stewing about vision for AECT. Every time I think I can begin to see it, something happens to make me rethink it all. What drew me back to the blog was, again, the walls. As some of you know, I'm an English major, so I sometimes (often) feel most comfortable thinking in metaphors. Thus, walls.
I want walls to surround us when we need privacy to discuss an issue, resolve differences, decide direction, focus.
I want open space to encourage exploration, welcome newcomers, express who we are, become something new, different.
I want walls from which to leap into new worlds of our own making -- or those of others -- to play on, to jump over, to feel tall.
I want open space to fly through, to risk new relationships, to experience diversity.
I want to build walls together, to plan design, to decorate with art, to feel part of the universe.
Most of all I want YOU to respond to these notions. I don't much care how long it takes for you to join me. Blogging still is not something that fits into my daily routine. It will when I have "company," methinks.
Your turn.
