PacifiCorp Design and Development Award competition
Wednesday, January 4th, 2006Dear colleagues,
Please encourage your graduate students to participate in the third annual PacifiCorp Design and Development Award competition co-sponsored by PacifiCorp and the Design and Development Division of AECT. As part of the competition, two-member student teams respond to a problem relevant to the interests of the adult learning and performance-improvement community. The problem statement is issued in January. Student teams can submit their initial response by early May. Each team is then assigned a mentor, typically a faculty member from a different institution, who helps them refine their paper for final submission in August. Finalists are invited to present their solutions at AECT’s International Convention in October and receive free conference registration. The competition is a unique opportunity for students to not only hone their instructional design and teamwork skills but also network and get feedback from recognized experts in the field, publicity, and additional presentation and publication opportunities.
Please forward the enclosed call for student participants among your graduate students. Both master’s and doctoral students are encouraged to participate. In addition, consider including discussions of past or upcoming problem statements as part of your courses or other activities in your program.
More details about the competition will be available in late January. Meanwhile, you can view past competition problem statements and procedures at: http://www.lehigh.edu/~mjba/PCDesignCompetition/.
If you have questions, please contact Zane Olina, Assistant Professor of Instructional Systems at Florida State University, olina@coe.fsu.edu.
